Bookbinding: Pocket Notebooks with Kelly Laughlin

  • B. Willow 220 West 27th Street Baltimore, MD, 21211 United States (map)

Explore a step by step bookbinding process as you explore the practice of observational journaling. In this class, you'll make yourself a tool to record the world around you. Class includes information on tools and techniques in order to make your own pocket notebooks, resulting in a place to write, make drawings, and record observations. Inspired by the practice of taking field notes, this class will emphasize both technical aspects of bookbinding along with exploring different prompts to jump start the practice of noticing your world. By focusing on observations, journals and sketchbooks can become vehicles to explore mindfulness and observations of the beauty of the world around you. Come prepared to gather tools for both making and reflecting.

$40 ticket includes materials for up to two pocket-sized notebooks, along with tools for continuing the practice at home. If you've taken a paper marbling class, this is a perfect place to practice applying those marbled papers in a practical way.

For beverages during the workshop, feel free to BYOB!
